The History of Fireworks on Mason Lake:
Over 25 years ago the Nilsen’s, a family of local Pyrotechnics, who live at the Simpson end of Mason Lake started to celebrate America’s Birthday by putting on a huge fireworks show in front of their place. Over the years they had drawn an incredible crowd. Watching the red and green bow lights from boats dancing on the water taking in the show was a sight to behold on its own. Then after 25 years of Fireworks in front of the Nilsen Family Home on July 3rd 2007 the night sky above Mason Lake was pitch black and the boats were gone.
Chad Hauer, however, did not want to see the tradition die. He spent most of his childhood summers on Mason Lake with his family and friends and was determined to keep the tradition alive. Chad wanted the next generation to be able to experience Fireworks on Mason Lake so he set out to bring it back bigger and better than ever and Mason Lake Fireworks was born!
